yes and no... i had one blow up in the tank reached in and shoclked the piss outta me pulled up the electirc control completely off the long part in a sump no lesss so I know nothing bashed it.

I've already been using a few Stealth heaters for years now with no problems at all. I'd say you've got a defective one.

i have stealths on most of my tanks... i find they keep a nice constant temp, look great, and dont shatter lol

Invest in a titanium heater, or your fish will have the same fate as mine........I saved him by buying a titanium heater
