I would like to start a thread for those who either own dovii now or who have owned them in the past. And please for those who dis-like this fish please stay out of this thread. Lets show pictures/videos or experiences of this awesome predator.......

I have owned Umbri,RedDevil,Trimac,FlowerHorn,Buttikoferi,PeacockBass,Jaguar,Mota's,RedTerror,GreenTerror,Cons,Oscars,JardiniAro,RTC,MarblePimCat,Bichirs and a handful of others and no fish has brought me more joy then my 12"Male Dovii that i purchased from Rapps about a year and a half ago. He takes owning large Cichlids to the extreme for me. He has killed everything i've tried to house with him since he was about 7" and has been on his own since. Soon i will post some pictures and a short video of him. If you get within 6ft. of his tank he will attack the front glass relentlessly. Whats awesome is to hear is 1/4" teeth hit the glass when he pounds it. Sounds like someone taking a key and hitting it up hard against the glass. So come on dovii fans sare your love with The King...........

I really like doviis. I bought one for 5.99 from the LFS (just a little dude) and put him in a temp. tank with a blood parrot and texas cichlid. He was about the same size as the parrot so I thought it would be ok for a while (till I could get another tank setup). Much to my suprise, the texas and parrot tag teamed this little guy and killed it! I need to go on a quest to find another one now.

I had a little dovii once. Got him for a dollar at a fish auction. He was about 1in and he got to about three. Then he started to pick on my old aro that I use to have so my aro ate him. He was a really neat fish and wouldn't back down from any of the larger fish which was his downfall. Although once I have the room I will be getting another one.

My male is definitely the coolest fish I've owned. Very aggressive toward anything besides his female. His territory goes about 3 feet outside of the 240g that he's in. Besides silver dollars and tinfoil barbs, he's killed 2 of the 3 plecos in his tank. This is an older pic, and he's now 13" - 14".

How big is your setup?
If that was for me, I had them in a 46 gallon tank. all of the fish were less than 3". If he could have hung in there he would have had bigger and better really soon:(

Along with a pair of Dovii that my husband and I have that recently had a few hundred fry, we also have a trimac, (3) oscars, 1 albino,1 red tiger, 1 common.

Three baby flowerhorn, 1 pike, 1 silver arowana, 1 black piranha(approx. 6 in)
Two plecos. One spotted puffer.

Over time we've owned, blood parrots(boring), red devils(annoying), tin foil barbs(cause headache from speeding around constantly, 5 baby black piranha(all died together for some reason after buying three days prior).

We find the Dovii most interesting mainly because of thier range of behaviors towards different family members, our house cat at the glass and any other fish we have placed in the same tank with them.
Since they bred after owning them for but 3 months our interest has risen for the dovii.
Experiencing their parental skills as a team at such a young age has truly been a great learning experience.

How big is your setup?

He's currently in a 120Tall (60"-18.5"-27").....But i have a 180 for him when he outgrows the 120. My Jardini and Peacock Bass currently are in the 180 but i'm purchasing a 300+in the near future. Rallysman you have some amazing fish i especially like your Jag. I hope your quest for a male dovii is a success...They are awesome when they get big...:headbang2

Kept Dovii around 10 years ago, absolutely loved those fish, I had a breeding pair and the male took the attitude that only he was allowed to interact with me and used to give the tankmates little warnings to hide if I cam enear, could put hand in tank and he wouldn't nail me he was a lovely fish, used to eat feeders up to hafl his size and would take three fish in mouth at once realising he had to thes pit out and re swallow them, lovely fish, grew to ten inch then had to rehome as didn't have the time they deserved.
