The less fish is better

Yeah it just depends on your taste. I personally prefer not to see my fish fighting or chasing each other. It stresses me out knowing that my fish are not living in peace. After a long days work the last thing I want to worry about is how to keep my fish from killing each other. I have tried heavily stocked tanks as well as wet pets and there is just something so peaceful about watching a fish act so natural without having to run others out of their territory. I feel like my fish true personality really shows when he is not defending his territory. This clearly does not apply to schooling fish but for people like myself who keep new worlds less fish equals less stress.

+1 Nicky. I'm with you, but Ragin Caajun is so right. The possibilities can literally take a lifetime to achieve which is why this hobby is so great. They say that every 7yrs or so you actually change a little, different tastes, personality, even get a little crankier lol. When that happens you will probably try something different.

This is why people keep aquariums for decades. There's lots of ways to do it. You can do heavily stocked big tanks with big fish--Vieja and Amph's. You can do BIG wet pets--Umbees and Dovii. You can do light or heavy stocked small fish--I'm still intrigued by Sajica and Bartoni. I'm starting to like Convicts again, too. I saw a C. Spilurum that I REALLY like. I'd love to get an Umbee one day. I'd like to get all these fish outta my 125 and make it a planted tank. Maybe make my son's tank into Sajica and Bartoni and Spilurum. I'd like to get a Ray one day. I'd like to keep a Trimac. I'd like to keep an RTM. I'd like to Breed some fish one day. I'd like to do a LPS Coral tank, too. That's why aquarium is a great hobby. There's a lot to it, and lots of different types of tanks to build. I'd like to do a Discus tank one day, too. I"m sure one day I'll get bit by the African bug. I'd LOVE to do a Pleco tank, too. Possibilities are endless.

I agree with you 100%. I may change my mind oneday and want a heavily stocked african tank. This hobby is endless. There is always something new to try.

I've always run lower stocked tanks, but am running a heavily stocked sunfish tank right now.
I think next time will be back to 5 or 6 fish in my 245.
I will continue to keep my cories in groups of over 20 though.
