The life span of a tank

I don't know the answer, but I have a 20L and 30 that are at least 15 yrs old. Theres a little bubbling on the silicone of the 20L but still holding water. I also have a 6ft 100g with no center brace and thick a** glass which must be just as old, still holding water, seals perfect. Good question though, i wonder whos got the oldest tank.

Let's ask, who among you pips got the oldest tank. Or how long did you have the tank before it cracked.

I have never had one crack and only a few leak, I have had a couple broken but that would have happened to them no matter how old they were. I have had working tanks recently that were made in the 60s.

My brothers using my old tank right now and I got it when I was like 9 years old......I'm 25 right now so that's 14 years and counting. Although it wasn't used for a good 5 years or more so i guess you can use or not use this example.

My oldest running tank is roughly 28 years old and has never leaked. My old 900gal plywood tank went 17years before it's first leak. It leaked after I sold it out of storage. It had been dry for 2 years.
My oldest tank is an old steel framed slate-bottom tank from the 50s. But, I've resealed it with silicone sealer after I failed to find the original tar sealer for it.

i have one of these aswell, and it has never been resealed.

still holds water.

28 years. That's awesome man. If a tank did start to leak, you can simply empty it and reseal it back up with silicone. It's as easy as that :)

I know a guy in manhattan that collects those tanks. He doesnt even reseal the ones that he bought. Holds water fine.
