I'm happy as hell with my Tamron 17-50mmF2.8 XR lense......Nothing but quality IMO......Highly rated also.....Never touched a simga lense before-So I can't comment...

How much is the weight reduction between the F4 and F2.8 IS L...I have found that I dont need the IS feature with mine.....Good tripod is all...

defo go canon if you sway that way, the F4 IS is SO sharp, and for the most part i'm not huge on buying lenses from third party companies.

i'm taking the F4 IS instead of the 2.8 IS for weight.

Yea most likely I'll be going for the Canon, it's hard to beat Canon L series.

2.8 IS weight is 3.2 pounds without tripod collar and 3.5 with
4.0 IS is 1.7 pounds, and if your doing your work on foot (no tripod) with a backpack, it makes a huge difference.
