I can't argue with DB about how much rays are worth.

A nice looking marble is worth more than a black ray to me, That is just my personal opinion.

I would never give anyone a hard time for how much they spend on any fish. If they want the fish and they can come up with the cash good for them.

It is easy to ignore people on the internet if someone is bothering you just don't stoop to their level simple as that

I can't argue with DB

i am not trying to argue with anyone....i started what could have been a really fun thread.
i know there is some real ghetto set ups out there...they always are.
so instead of having people post pictures of their ghetto fab filtration.
i get everything but that...except for one person.

its funny that most of the people on here seem to think that if you havnt been here for a while you have no idea what you are talking about. its comical.

and enough BS about a 125 isnt good enough. its plenty good enough for a year.
and guess what..when i got my first hystrix 12 years ago i had him in a 20g. all i heard was..you will need to get a 55g soon. a grow out for a hystrix is a 55.
i had 6 rays in a 75g for 8 months and no one even blinked an eye.
i remember the first motoros bred in the USA by a couple in a LFS either ohio or detroit..i cant remember..and they did it in a 180g.
but i guess i am full of it on all of this too.
you guys sound like a broken record saying the same worthless info over and over.

i dont know if i should laugh because you guys are nothing more then robots...or be pissed because of all the bad info you guys give out.
this thread has been derailed so many times i am afraid to count....and i am now offended...

People used to think the world was flat

People used to think flies where some kind of magic because they would crawl out of meat in sealed containers

People used to burn people for being witches

People have only known about micro organisms for less than 400 years

My point is.. things evolve and people find new or better ways of doing things it is what we do

If you want to do things your own way without ever learning anything why waste your time on this forum

but the wheel is still round....
and yes...i do want to do things with my rays my own way..i have never asked for help with rays.....nor would i because i surely cant trust most of you.
i am hear to learn...thats why i started a threat about the new things in filtration..and instead of getting any good use full info..i get told what temp to keep my tank..my ph..do weekly water changes.blah blah blah..its like no one even reads what the topic says.

but whatever..this is pointless.

Well, cycling a tank with feeders and oscars is not the way most of us get ready for rays. Two it's kind of the wrong forum for filtration, may be your just looking for normal people who disagree with ure attitude and start fights

wait..let me get this straight..
youre going to come into my thread...call it stupid.....and say i am starting a fight....Ummmm...ok.

you have rocks in your tank that look like they could slide off and crush your rays at any time..you have wood with sharp roots on it that a ray could stab himself on after he gets done surfing the glass..and you want to tell me how to cycle a tank?
no thanks.

Did they use coral and liverock in thier sumps 12 years ago?

You're hear to learn but can't trust anyone for info, yet you've kept rays long enough you don't need any info? Is this before or after you were too high to remeber what you wrote? I'm a little confused myself.

It can still be a fun thread........

No ones trying to offend, just pointed out some constructive critisism, the reason forums exist..... :)

yeah..people use cc in their filters today..it raises a low ph.
and thank you for pointing out that i am indeed trying to learn something..good catch.

look DB i know enough about you to know i want nothing to do with you. in that thread about the skinny rays you didnt care about the health of the rays at all. all you were concerned about was the sellers reputation.
just some constructive "critisism" for you

Sure, you can house a couple rays in a 125. Just line the entire back and sides of the tank with your favorite HOB's and stick canister filter suction/return tubing in between wherever they will fit. That should take care of your bio load... maybe. Then, of course, you'll need to do water changes out the ying yang or add a drip system - but, if you don't even understand the concept of a W/D filter then you won't know how the drip works for sure. Not trying to add to your list of enemies, but that's basic stuff. If you need help there are stickies to help you in the filtration sub-forum... and, of course, there's google.

Now, on the topic of pricing rays. Do you think Mike is crazy for pricing his proven breeder colonies the way he did? Probably not, since you are nearly guaranteed to make your money back super quick and his stock is phenomenol. Think before you post. Then, think again. I promise it will make your life here on MFK that much more enjoyable. Have a good day/night :)

Have you asked how many people use CC and what thier PH was? Most people are down pretty low before resorting to using this and most people that are using it are across seas. I thought most people in the mid to high 7s would have no need for CC. But then again I haven't paid much attention to even the thought so hey, I could be wrong.

Again your narrowmindedness shows through. IF you knew anything about me you'd know I care deeply for the health of my rays. My systems and rays show that. How others care for thier rays in none of my business. I've never said miskeeping rays is right, but let's be realistic, how many people on this forum improperly house rays? I never said anything about not caring for the health. My point was if a guy wants to buy skinny rays then stay the hell out of his business.

What I do have a problem with is people pointing fingers at vendors. I've been on this site long enough to have witnessed first hand vendors being pushed off this site because of drama. Some of the nicest rays on this side of the pond were brought in by the hands of "controvercial vendors" Without these vendors we can't get nice fish. If people don't like the risks involved of buying fish from these controvercial vendors then they shouldn't. But they sure as hell don't have to screw that up for the rest of us. I don't want to be stuck haviing to pay a transhipper to get fish from out of country cause all our vendors gave up getting drug through the mud by hobbyists angry about the condition of OTHER people's fish. I already went through the BS of transhipping once cause no vendors would risk bringing this kind of ray in. I bet they'd be a lot more willing to try to get us the rare stuff if we were a little more thankfull and handled stuff like it should be handled instead of making this forum a laundry mat.

I wouldn't run the charcoal I never do unless its really necessary other then that a uv couldn't hurt but I wouldn't put that on mow anyways I have found that uv from the.start can slow down your cycle it will kill any good bacteria that's trying to thrive to fast gibe.it time then add a submerged uv.in the.filter or in the.corner of your tank.

Sent from my DROIDX using MonsterAquariaNetwork App

rubbish

i have been running carbon and UVs for over 2 years with no problems

my water runs throw the carbon slowly and its changed every 3 weeks

as for a uv i wouldnt run a tank without them
