if your over flows cant handle the flow then you didnt resurch properly before getting the tank made i have 4 x 50mm drain pipes in my tank and that lets me pump 13,000 gal per hour with a over flow drain in the sump for 24/7 water change
i pump 200 gal per day into the main tank and that fills the tank and when the level gets high in the sump it goes into the main house drain

i run a 6x2x2 sump at about 18 inch full all pumps have non return valves so you dont get back flow if you get a power out

this tank has been set up for over 2 years now with no problems

when i 1st set the tank up i had about 1/4 of the turn over and it wasnt enought

another thing to do is to put 3-4 big air stones in the sump this airs the media

Have you asked how many people use CC and what thier PH was? Most people are down pretty low before resorting to using this and most people that are using it are across seas. I thought most people in the mid to high 7s would have no need for CC. But then again I haven't paid much attention to even the thought so hey, I could be wrong.

Again your narrowmindedness shows through. IF you knew anything about me you'd know I care deeply for the health of my rays. My systems and rays show that. How others care for thier rays in none of my business. I've never said miskeeping rays is right, but let's be realistic, how many people on this forum improperly house rays? I never said anything about not caring for the health. My point was if a guy wants to buy skinny rays then stay the hell out of his business.

What I do have a problem with is people pointing fingers at vendors. I've been on this site long enough to have witnessed first hand vendors being pushed off this site because of drama. Some of the nicest rays on this side of the pond were brought in by the hands of "controvercial vendors" Without these vendors we can't get nice fish. If people don't like the risks involved of buying fish from these controvercial vendors then they shouldn't. But they sure as hell don't have to screw that up for the rest of us. I don't want to be stuck haviing to pay a transhipper to get fish from out of country cause all our vendors gave up getting drug through the mud by hobbyists angry about the condition of OTHER people's fish. I already went through the BS of transhipping once cause no vendors would risk bringing this kind of ray in. I bet they'd be a lot more willing to try to get us the rare stuff if we were a little more thankfull and handled stuff like it should be handled instead of making this forum a laundry mat.

Sure, you can house a couple rays in a 125. Just line the entire back and sides of the tank with your favorite HOB's and stick canister filter suction/return tubing in between wherever they will fit. That should take care of your bio load... maybe. Then, of course, you'll need to do water changes out the ying yang or add a drip system - but, if you don't even understand the concept of a W/D filter then you won't know how the drip works for sure. Not trying to add to your list of enemies, but that's basic stuff. If you need help there are stickies to help you in the filtration sub-forum... and, of course, there's google.

Now, on the topic of pricing rays. Do you think Mike is crazy for pricing his proven breeder colonies the way he did? Probably not, since you are nearly guaranteed to make your money back super quick and his stock is phenomenol. Think before you post. Then, think again. I promise it will make your life here on MFK that much more enjoyable. Have a good day/night

if you are just in it for the money then think again as that will make you no better than a puppy farmer or back yard breeder

it will take you 2 years + to breed any rays if you get them at pup size and the tank you have stated you are setting up is way to small

i have been keeping rays for over 20 years and sell my pups cheap as long as they go to good homes

the pups just pay for the up keep of the tank if you think you are going to get rich and buy a flash car or big house out of breeding rays on a small scale think again

i keep and breed rays for the love of the game nothing more if this makes me part of the clan then so be it

you should be taking advice from thease guys not insulting them its up to each person what they pay for a fish

as for ph if you do lots of water changes 2 per week 25% that will buff the ph

my ph is 8.5 and my rays are happy and breeding in that

like i said my tank runs 24/7 water change pumping in 200gal per day which is about 25% per day my tap water is 8.5 so thats what the tank sits at

i never mess with the ph just keep it stable is the main thing

IF you told me you just bought the nicest BD you've ever seen for $15K you know what I'd tell you? Congradulations on your new purchase. But if I'm not mistaken there's been BDs sold for more. Go track them down and tell them morons they overpaid.

As far as making enemies, you sound a lot like creepyoldguy. He jumped onto the forum with experience, didn't like the advice offered, and left. Only difference is he didn't have the balls to tell people what rays should and shouldn't cost.

Every ray keeper wants to breed BDs. Sad reality is most of the time "something" gets in the way. We'll all be looking forward to seeing your breeding group of BDs in the huge pond you're building.

Most of us "Marble Cheerleaders" would take a nice Marble over just about any ray. Not sure why you can't seem to understand people are entitled to thier own opinions, but then again I don't understand the attitiude either. Let people have thier opinions. Nobodies sitting here tossing you under the bus for your mad scientist filter. Have a little respect.
