The Most 3D Backgrounds on MFK--Build Thread?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Very nice background it looks awesome in the tank. I am curious as of how you will incorporate the fx5 onto this system. If I do this for my 125 I will need to know hot to incorporate 2 AC 110 and a canister along the back.

I'm just going to put the intake behind that channel and drill holes in it and the run the out hose to the other side of the tank. This is basically how I did the 125 I had. I plan on running two FX5s on this tank but I don't have the other one yet.

Seeing as this is THE background thread. I wondered if you could give me a hand.

I currently have my empty 135 which is a 3x3x2. So the back is a 3x2. However there is an internal overflow box (central to the back pane) which comes out 6 inches from the rear surface and is 8inches long. How would you suggest i get around this? I would love a 3D BG. But this seems to have stumped me. I had thought of making my own, but i figured whilst i have the funds buying one wasnt out of the question. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I envy all your tanks, you have done a great job with them. I am also envious of the 'fish community' you live in. I would be lucky if there is a mfker within 100miles of me.

I should mention i am from the UK.

Are you kidding me? You live in the same country as one of the best cichlid clubs out there!

And the 3D background guru Lee Nuttall lives there. :)

As far as your question, it really depends on the background. If it's flexible, you could just "wrap" it around the overflow. If not, you could cut out a chunk from the background and mess with trying to get it to blend in.
