The most boring fish is the one's you don't keep. None of my fish are boring. But if I had to pick, I'd say the ones in my freezer could be considered boring, not very active now adays. But they were cool when they were in the tank's.

Yea an article I read in a fish mag said that the top eyes are for finding food at or above the water level. Like in tree's and flying and such.
And the lower eye is for watching for predators.

Personally I do think Raphaels are kind of neat, but I don't have space for them over other fish I want more.
I'm also very surprised by the amount of people finding Goldfish(common) boring. Mine have always been very active. They respond better to feeding time then any other fish I've ever had (except danios). They come to the glass to see me when I walk up. Even when my hands are in the tank they don't run(swim) away like most other fish.
Mine chase each other in a playful mode.
I used to think that raphael catfish is the most boring one, but now that I have 8 of those 4" raphs in my tank, I dont think they're boring at all,
All my raphs are active, specially when its feeding time, everytime I drop chunks of bloodworms, all my raphs will compete to finish it within seconds, and moments later they are all look like balls. They eat and do well in groups.
My tank is a bare bottom, and the only ornament in it is a loose hiding place that I made which allows me see my raphs all the time.
