I know sens are good and active but I've been long over the CB big box senegal.. I also know it depends on the personality of the specimen, but do any species tend to be more active then others? I miss seeing a poly swimming around in my tank (my old sen that died of that weird watery bloatness) , my ornate is only active at night (which is cool, because I'm an insomniac and work late hours) but I would like a poly that my family and friends can observe during the day, other then my ornate lazing about his corner lol

Some I've heard already from LFS shopkeeps and such are the palmas complex tend to be pretty active (as I've heard, yet to own one), and most of the lower jaws aren't very active (which is fine I prefer the uppers).

My friend who is trying to breed weeksii (he lives about an hour away so I'm seldom there and he isn't one to be on social sites like this) has a quite active pair of them but that could be because they are the only ones in a 80 ga tank. Anyone else have an active weeksii?

I don't even know if my weeksii is alive sometimes........... anyway i think that my most active other then my sens are my pollis and my ornate. Other than that everything else just sits there. What's fun to watch is when my ornate get scared of something and dives into the poly pile of 10 polys and it's like a bomb goes off.

Maybe a delhezi? Mine was timid at first but now he swims around in the open water all day.

My tuegelsi is the most active fish I own

Haha must just be the fact its only a breeding pair in the tank then. That's how my family feels about my ornate haha "are you sure its alive?" Was a common question when I first got him, I've been wanting a polli more and more as I look into them. Would love to see a video of this poly pile bomb haha sounds entertaining!

A del is an interesting thought, I've never known anyone who had one so I haven't considered them very much, will have to look into em more. I do like their pattern, it looks like one that should be on a lower jaw but its an upper (I don't know what it is about the lowers they just look like derp to me if you know what I mean, other then lapreidi and dabola)

A teugelsi is a cool thought, thanks for chiming in that they are active I have been considering one if I can find it at the right size, they look like they get very very long and slender. I know that JA gets em in sometimes at the right size hopefully there's another in the next shipment

Also I have a 30 and a 40 ga running in the house right now, if I were to get a del or palm as polli that was too small to run with my main preds (7 inch ornate and 6 inch possibly sp. Peru purple wolf) could it grow out to a good size with the 30 or 40? Both are long not tall, I just don't know how I feel about a small bichirs w/ my geophagus grow outs, they bully sometimes

A 30 or 40 would make a great grow out. I got my little del from petsolutions but I have been having some serious del envy lately. I've seen a bunch with cool patterns and mine is rather sparsely patterned. Wonder if he will grow into it. Can't blame you for not being crazy about the lower jaws. They are really cool but they almost look like a different type of fish when they get big and fat. I like the more slender, serpentine quality of the upper jaws.

I have owned most every species of poly and I would definitely vote Delhezi.

IMO everyone's active when it's early in the morning. I usually get up 4am so I can see em cruising like an arowana.

Same here..during the day, my tank is literally empty - during the night its party time :)

I think I saw those dels on there, tank raised right? That might be why he is sparsely patterned. Same here on the lower jaws, they remind me of frogs when larger. The snake like quality of the uppers is fantastic

Around 2 to 5 is when my ornate is usually cruising about, I don't go to sleep till 5-6 in the morning so I get a show every night haha. I just would like one that's more consistently active, like the ol' Senegal
