Yes the Neets are bad a** , I have a 360 gallon tank with 3 Neets, Red Jewels, 1 Salvini, 2 Convicts (male and Female), and 1 Bredohri, all about the same size about 3". Wow!! You are talking about action and excitement, wow!! Always some thing happening. I have the 360 gallon aquas caped good... No killing or hurting just a lot of movement and arguing...

My favorite is the Neets, no real winner... All have there moments of winning... No one particular controls the tank, just the way I want it... I am really please with all of them I have a male and female Nicaraguense that I would like to add but I am afraid that they may not work out because of the aggression that exist already, and also they will have to get a little bigger before I even would attempt it...

What do you guys think about what is going on in my tank, is this some you would expect or do you think that in time it won't work, any suggestions, advice, questions?

That tank is plenty big. Hell, I'd add even more!
Go get a Cuban and jack Dempsey!

Curious what made you say add a Cuban and Jack Dempsey, although nothing against the ideas, just curious...

I deliberately tried to add all aggressive Cichlids with about the total out at the same size once they reach adulthood, with the exception of the Bredohri. I wanted to have one Center piece... Although I will keep the Cuban and Jack Dempsey in mind...

Neets are aggressive in different ways than some other cichlids. They're social creatures (kind of like Tropheus) and not glass bangers or big, mean predators.

I have probably three generations of them living as a colony in a 2'x2'x1' 30g tank and they all get along just fine (although there definitely is a pecking order). When the fry / juvie level gets low enough (from me taking them out), they breed again.

Ironically, the oldest and largest male in the tank died a few months ago after getting picked on by his babies. They wouldn't leave him alone (grazing on him).

I've tried adding cons, rainbow cichlids and other stuff with them without any success. Maybe in a large tank with a pile of rocks for them to take over (and adding a small group of juvie neets) and some open space for other fish.

They've had a spot in my fishroom for years.

Thanks for the helpful information, really wanted to see what others experienced with them or advice that can be added

Jack Dempseys are perfect for that community as well as Cubans.. Tough beautiful and will hold their own. In a 300g that'd be a perfect community IMO.

I just had my Neets gang up against my massive male Istlanum... they're just to fast for him.

Nah Grammodes I heard are very shy and slow growing. Has anyone ever actually seen a pair of Neets take on a Grammodes?
