All fish jump but mullet are well known for it. They typically jump straight up and keep their bodies rigid while in the air. The dont jump and move like other fish do when they are in the air.

Thats them. They look like a wooden board when they jump . They jump in area canals at night .

The only way to catch mullet on a hook is to take and throw out some kind of floating small breakfast cereal, the mullet come and start surface feeding on it, then you take and make doughball bait out of a small bit of wet cereal and cast it out into the feeding mullet. I have seen people catch mullet like that in the Caloosahatchee River in South Florida.

The easy way to catch them is with a cast net.

How have you caught them. I never have but they have nibbled the hook . I was using wax worms

Mullet are tricky sods at the best time however when you do get one the fight is amazing and fight like the fury!! even a small one will pull your string!

tackle wise. For basic mullet fishing you will need:

· A coarse match rod, suitable for small carp (if your in the uk or Tench)

· 6lb-8lb Line

· strong hooks, around size 8/10, preferably short-shanked and with a wide gape.

· If float fishing, use as small a float as conditions allow.

· A long-handled landing net, or drop net if fishing from a high wall etc

· A 2 gallon bucket for mixing bread mash

· A sacks (or similar) for use as bread bags, and some cord to tie them with(like rubby dubby)
· Polaroid glasses

A flake of white bread is by far the best and most consistent bait.

Mashed bread is the groundbait to be used for mullet. Some anglers will add a tin of sardines, liquidised mackerel,

i use a carp surface float set up like this one

Best of luck!

Mudflat exhibit at the NYA? The salt marsh is the only one that matches your description- and there are no mullet in there. Only Menidia menidia and mummichogs. Occasionally a horseshoe crab and a few native echinoderms.

theres an exhibit near the touch tank, the waterfall, and near alien stingers. they have Silversides, Killifish, (saw one lay eggs and a few males try to fertilize them) Sheepshead Minnows, about 7 Flagfish, and a few White Mullet. Theyve only been there are few months.
