The New Ehime Pro Filters

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Howdy,

I can understand your grief with the new parts, I am an old school guy myself. The new parts work, and you can easily customize the length of intake and outlet, but that will cost additional $$$. I do not think the O-rings ever wear out.

IMO it was just a way for Eheim to make more money and shake off the prejudices that they have old designs...

However, setting everything up nowadays is much easier than in the old days, when you had to cut, push, screw, saw.... Today, it's "plug & play"-no tools required. You shouldn't have had that fifth beer before you started setting up your new filter ;)

On all my canisters (Eheim included) I toss everything from the hoses on up in the trash right out of the box. I've never been satisfied with the cheap parts the manufacturers give you. I plumb all my intakes and returns with black PVC pipe. That way I can design my system any way I want and not be limited by what comes with the filter.

Got a pic??? sounds interesting..

No pic. Sorry.
I get the parts from www.thatfishplace.com
Enter "pentair" as your search word. There you'll find a selection of pipe and fittings.
The "over the wall assemblys" are awesome and their suction cup fittings actually stick to the glass for more than a week!
One note on this site though is that everything labled as a 1" fitting is actually 3/4".
Another great place to get stuff is www.modularhose.com , some really cool parts there to customize your setup.

Unfortunately, filters have reached a status of lifestyle equipment ("I am "in", I have the new XXX" - you even see it here at MFK). I liked it better when they were basic commodities. But just like nobody would buy an old car design, popular demand requests new bells & whistles on filters as well.... Nevertheless, there is still the classic Eheim series for purists

the Pro 3 I set up snapped together like a model airplane for ages 4-6. I am pleased with it so far. I still want that big bucket looking one though.
