Midas are wife beaters no matter how you cut it, I had an 8 month old pair in a 180 gallon tank and the male still chased the female around quite a bit between spawns!

You say odd colors and I agree. I always see whit and black Barred Midas with brown heads but mine has TON of red all over him.
