wow he is awesome...love everything about him... color is beautiful

haha thanks! yeah definitely:D now that i have the gar-pens it's not an issue. i will, am actually a little worried about the 18" shortnose gar, have you tried any mixes like that before?

meant to say "beast's rage" earlier...man, i can't type worth crap these days.

anyway, good that you have a backup for the smaller gars of course. as for the SNG, i have had that combo before, but had extended success because i had the SNG at a larger size and got the gator as YOY...it worked for about a year or so but then the gator started developing the typical attitude (getting it as YOY with other already larger gars did buy a lot of time though...at least with that individual). eventually moved it in with the bigger fish and he's done well...although the smallest in Gar-Den II, he hasn't been murdered by the Croc II like the previous gator.

in the end, they all seem to develop the attitude, and if you are starting with a larger gator it's more or less a matter of time. just keep tabs on things and hope you can move fish around before real mayhem breaks out...doesn't help that you're dealing with SNG potential damage as that's obviously the worst species to spook.
keep an eye out, you should likely see fins torn before really bad stuff, but we all know keeping gators with other gars is a risk. good luck, and keep us posted on how things are shaping up!--

things are going alright thus far. gator has killed a number of my apple snails and wolfed down most of the food i throw in the tank but left the other gars alone.

See notes by Solomon. That covers small gator with Big SNG.. My notes Big Gator Small SNG..

18" SNG with 26" ALG......... That I would worry about. It would be much safer to put the SNG in one of the smaller tanks. It has been my experience that SNG (also LNG) are "twitchy" fish as such they tend to garner to much ALG attention. Never had this combo last very long without a shredding that required removal of the SNG (sometimes live sometimes dead).

Better safe then sorry... def at least until you know how aggro he is.

Woah big boss !!! How long have u had him? Did u raise him?
