The new setup

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Makes me wonder why the lady at the local fish store suggested 40 lbs of gravel for a 20 gallon tank. I thought it's like 20 lbs for 20 gallon, and 40 lbs for 40 gallon. UGF should be OK, and a hang on the back filter definitely would not hurt. With that much gravel, I like to push all that gravel towards the back, and make it look like a slide coming towards the front. That way you still see the fish when you view it from the front. Put those small flounders in there, some cory cats to clean up that gravel.

Thanks for all the coments guys, but are there any potential problems that could arise, is it too much gravel that i should take some out, and in doing so, re arranging my whole setup wouldent be harmfull to my fish would it?

I've scooped gravel out with a new while the fish are still there. Unless the gravel is incredibly dirty and will release loads of detritus that needs to settle it should be fine. Especially seeing as there is just 1 fish.

It will be much better with 1 inch of gravel. Better flow on the filter, and the fish will have more water to swim around in.

Ok so i scooped out the gravel, and added 10 new fish, i got 4 picanese tetras, 3 black sail tetras and 3 black phantoms, tell me if this looks a lil better, im waiting on some angelfish :woot: , but thats deffinately what i want to get next.
