The New Shark Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
While a 360 gallon is a nice tank. It's still not suited for housing a active swimming shark.

It's much better for keeping juvenile benthic sharks (like bamboos, coral cats, or Horn sharks) or small round stingrays in.

....360 you can get away with a nice predator tank!...

I think a blue dot stingray would be nice in thier along with other fish like lion fish. If you are really into sharks that are constantly active, save money for a 1,000 gallon tank at least. This is good for multiple benthic sharks and rays...then again it comes down to space also.

you could build a fibreglass pond with filtration for the same money you will spend on a custom order tank go for 10 foot diamiter at least

I am in the process of having a designer construct a new aquarium so that I can purchase two sharks. The Aquarium will be 8ft long x 3ft wide x 2ft tall. 360 gallons total. I plan on putting a couple of smoothhounds or bonnetheads in this tank. I am pumped cant wait till it comes in. I have placed floor supports due to the fact that it will weigh about 4k lbs. and will be on my main floor. I am also intrested in leopard sharks wich are hard to get. If anyone knows where I can get one let me know.

If you have the room go bigger. Sheets of acrylic come in 4'X8' sizes. So you can have a 8' X 4' wide X 2' tall tank for the same cost, might even be cheaper because it's less cutting for the builder.

Cell cast acrylic also come in 10'X5' sheet sizes :naughty: This will be more, of course, but a nice 10'X5'X2' tank would be..........sick!

WOW!!!!

What i would give to be able to keep a shark in a tank, you guys are very very lucky to have this as an option

What's your budget? A couple of massive public aquariums keep whale sharks.

Whats the biggest shark you could keep in captivity?

That's really should be a seperate question.

Me personally - Even if I had the finances to keep a larger shark - I still doubt I would keep any shark that is larger or heavier than a full grown Nurse Shark. After all a shark that is 10-12 ft long and weighs more than 400 lbs is a very big fish.
