The next fad in fish-keeping?

I'm not saying that I agree with this practice, or would ever do it, but is it really any more stressful for the fish than catch and release?

Absolutely worse. Abso-lutely.

Think about it, catch and release fish isn't out of the water for more then a minute. With this I'd imagine the guy needed it out for a while, to get proper placement and to get the actual piercings in and twisted on. Plus I'd imagine being jolted by a piercing gun multiple times is worse then a single or treble hook in the mouth

Jeez, who would even think up doing something like that!? Hey what you wanna do today?? Ehhhhh gonna pierce my oscar with rainbow hoops because I need some attention.

Two words: Mental Issues.

Well, I think most of the responses in this thread pretty much covered it, but I'll go ahead and add my two cents and confirm that I too find this abhorrent and would not hesitate to say it right to someone's face if I ever witness this personally.

A few years ago there were pics of a pierced Goldfish floating around, and now that I've done a Google image search there appear to be a LOT more pierced fish out there. Better than tattooing them, but not by much.
