This is a trademark kill of those dirty UN trustable flatfish (stingrays) and their constant burning desire to gain the owners trust only to turn around and feast on the brains on their prized fish. The rays always seem to chew the heads off then carry the rest around like a dog carries a bone.
IF it wasn't the first ray I ever bred she'd be in the marketplace right now.
Haven't been this mad about loosing a fish in quite some time.
The ray was only about 2 inches wider then the ATF's length. They've been together fine for over a month. Have never hoped it to be another fish like this before. Saw the red on the tail and thought "PLEASE be the Gatf" No such luck. I traded off my nicest Tatf then this happens to the next nicest...... FML.
Thanks Kevin. They keep me in the hobby. They don't let me down and make me feel I'm doing something wrong by not breeding, they don't die on me, they aren't demanding, get along great, never get sick, don't have to feed very often, and put on a better feeding show than any freshwater tanks I've ever had. Too bad all the neat ones are never seen in the hobby.
You have no idea how many times I've wanted to just make my big tank a salt tank, just give up on trying to make my liquid rock suitable for softwater fish and just scrap all the freshwater, just keep sharks and eels......
I understand the love of ray keeping and freshwater in general but honestly those eels in your 750 would be amazing. I've never had a spark for salt but your eels are making me think twice.
Damn, that sucks!! I didn't think a ray would bother a fish near its own size, guess that doesn't always work out.
On the other hand, those eels are fantastic looking. What size tank do you have them in? I need to look into a salt tank eventually, I really like the way those eels feed and they seem pretty active in the video.
