Pondmaster pro Hydrive pumps!

i use them on all my tanks. great effeciency, submersable or inline, and very well made

(sry not a filter but might help for the sump guys)

i like this thread, i havce 2 xp4's and 2 ac110s, marineland and hydor heaters but was thinking about buying some no name brand stuff off ebay. bump to keep this going

i used to run a penn plax hang on filter. cleaned the water great for me and was soooooo quiet. was a shame whem the motor failed after so many years.

SunSun304B (which is the OEM manufactuer for Marineland,Tetra and JBJ canister filters btw... they are identical)

I've had a few of those and believe or not at $80 for a 530gph filter with a inbuilt UV and as much media capacity as a Eheim Pro3 ... they are surprisingly good. They work well , have good flowrate, prime easily and have virtually no bypass. I throw out the cheap media and pipes and use Seachem Matrix and EfiMech and I can't complain. If one does break ...heck they are $80 which is less then the impeller on some Eheims !

Another one I've used a real monster is the Resun EF-2800U a huge 800gph canister that reminds me of a 2260 Eheim but with media baskets and without the price tag ...about $130 and its got a built in UV too. This one also goes well with massive flow.

Don't get me wrong I'm still a Eheim guy but for less critical tanks such as my feeder tanks and for tanks with less vauable stock these cheaper chinese brand do ok. They might not be the same quality as Eheim (but they are a better DESIGN then any Fluval or Rena and as for the SunSuns they are exactly the same as Marineland C series ...SunSun make them for Marineland) but for $80 heck ...buy 3 or 4 ...and if one did stop (I have had nothing but reliable service so far in about 18 months) well just put a new one on.

I ran a Jebao for 2 years non-stop. It was a decent filter, strong flow, big baskets, sturdy (survived being dropped) and was easily maintained.
It eventually failed after 3 house moves up and down virtually the whole of the UK and I went with a fluval 405 as it's replacement.

I've had a Jebo canister on my 55 gal serra tank in the past. Sold it becuase it started to develop leaks around the quick releases. I also ran the same Jebo on my 120 gal and a Peguin HOB, with no issues. I guess its a hit or miss with the leaks and whatnot.

Now on my new serra 55 gal, I'm running a SunSun 304 (Non UV) and I think it does the job fine. The tank also has a built in wet/dry in the back, but i don't know the GPH of the pump. I can't compare it to the name brands because I never used it. So far my 304 has pot scrubs and sponge media and it does a great job. 3 deep trays to pack whatever media you wish. The joints seem beefy and have no signs of developing leaks. And the price of $40 picked up from the supplier is a plus.

Out here we are flooded with brands like Resun, Atman, Dolphin, SunSun, RS Electricals and so on :)

Good quality reliable and dirt cheap.

Just got a RS Electrical External Filter 1200LPH with 5W UV and filter media for $70 whereas the cheapest Eheims costs around $300 minimum!

Yeah I must admit i've been really suprised by the number of people that seem to be running these SunSuns and the lack of issues with them.

I remember seeing ads for Sun Suns. Always wondered if it was good.
