Ok let's here arguments! Alot of sp. "Morphs" probably un-classified.. The Eclipse vs. Itaituba on P14?

Would it be irresponsible for me to continue the numbering system to ID the 10 that aren't assigned P#s?

Does anyone know the P# for the missing slots? And the variant on the P62 Leopoldi?

Thats the one iv seen but ya there are a ton of "morphs" on there

Species List with classification dates..

Potamotrygon garrapa
Potamotrygon marinae
Never heard of these two.
Great info btw!

P. Garrapa is the 3rd ray in the black ray family.. Apparantly it's original identification is the only solid collection of information for this species.. in 1985 Rosa doubt's its specific existence during his studies, as the original classification was vague and could allow the species to fall under other names.. If anyone knows of their existence in captivity or picture for reference, please let me know.

I will attach a pic of the only known drawing from it's original collection..

P. Marinae was recently discovered in 2006.. It has some very interesting pictures and info on Fishbase, the only picture I could find. It shows an odd body structure for a Potamotrygon, and a different type of tail.

Now I am going to start breaking down each individual species and gather as much information possible on each...

The biggest bit of information I am excited about is a SA Map, pin-pointing the collection areas of each species!

Feel free to donate or link me up with info!

Going forward with that.. Here is the map that I will be using to pinpoint the collection locations of Potamotrygons.

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?f=q&...6.162109&spn=48.329187,96.328125&t=p&z=4&om=1

I am very novice at this area, and am looking up each river system 1 by 1 and trying to place the markers as best I can. I have opened the Map up for 'Open Collaboration', so anyone with the knowlege of collection areas, please feel free to move the markers and add your own.. Try to follow the format, but I can fix things up later..

:feedback: David, Mike, Frank.. :D :D :D
