WHEN you win the contest, ask if they will forgo giving you the $10k and will hire you for a trip somewhere to photograph for them. That experience, to me would outweigh $10k and could lead to further work with them or other conservancies or magazines. Just a late night passing thought.

Thanks folks! It's not quite $10k lol, I wish! The $10k was for the grand prize winner of the 2010 photo contest. This one took the cake, well deserved too. Incredible shot, volcano in Indonesia:




The turtle shot was taken in Maui during my vacation. We were at the Maui Ocean Center and they had a sea turtle exhibit, where you could view the turtles through a glass wall or up top. I was leaning over the railing just as this guy surfaced a few feet from me, so I held down the shutter and snapped as many pics as I could. This was taken without flash, and the lighting was just perfect. The cloud reflection and the ripples in the water add the finishing touch :)
 
Amazing shot, so clean crisp and sharp. It really pops. thanks for sharing.
