So i bought a common pleco taking the risk of them living in my p tank, well that lasted about 5 min walked back into my room half his body was gone :o poor pleco, crazy i fed them alot of worms before i put him in the tank :(

I'm not piranha expert, but I think you might have had better luck if you would have waited a couple hours after the feeding to add the pleco, that way they might have been less likely to see it as food.

I had a pleco that lived with my 4 RBP for four months. One day I couldn't find him and as I was looking around for him just the bone of his head was in the corner of the tank. Sorry about your fish.

my common pleco which is about an inch smaller then the red bellies has been with them (16 red bellies) for about 6-7 months now and does just fine :-p

I know your Ps are pretty small, what 2-3 inches now? So how big was the pleco? Sounds like it must've been tiny. If i recall right, you also have no hiding spots?

it's one of those hit or miss things.

I also added a pleco to my RBP tank. I did it at night, but he still got a nice big chunk taken out of him...he is fine now and getting quite large. To heal his wound, I dabbed bacitracin (sp?) on it daily with a very long thin paint brush. I forget where I got that advice on MFK but it worked!
