Sounds about normal to me. I tried 3 different sized plecos. Obviously the smallest size one lasted the longest.

But I had great success with the Chinese algea eater.

quick fish seem to do well and those chinese algae eaters are fast little things. My rbps and macs don't even bother trying to catch the tetras anymore.

Its a hit or miss thing my rb's dont bother my pleco, but they are babies

Yep, all in all any tank mates for piranhas are on borrowed time. If the Ps get curious or a tad bit hungry, if it can't fend for itself, it'll become food.
