The Polly Posse!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Glo-Bichirs ? Seriously tho it looks really good wish I had a tank large enough for a Mokole Mbembe. Maybe next year. Do all of them have that glow or is yours a special one ?
I would think all of them. Wild-caught specimens tend to have more color, which is the only explanation I have.

They look great! Also the green on the moke ( WOW). I'm looking forward to more pictures and learning more about your fish as their personalities start showing. Please keep us posted!

re Naming fish: I understand why people do not name their fish, but I personally love it when mine have names! Sometimes it takes me especially long to figure out a name...by that I mean months. Naming is hard and if they do not have names, at some point my boyfriend or my mom ends up naming them. :) Which works out because there is a reason why one of my mokes is named "The Moke," aka "Mokey." Originally, I named her "Bassy" short for baselisk ( from Harry Potter),because she has crazy eyes and went on a murder spree. Then I called her Nagini for a while. However, none of those names stuck. She loves watching people outside the tank, is quite territorial, but is best friends with -and will protect- the smallest poly of the group (Pinky...the albino sen). She is a complex creature, yet "THE MOKE" describes her perfectly. :P

the season for wild palmas in the US is August -December. Thats the time wetspot gets them
Do you know what is the season for the wild dels?

I can't watch the video :(

Something that helps my polys with food aggression is lots of plants, hides breaking up the line of sight. Also doing multiple pieces of food throughout the tank,
I turned my light off and the Palmas stopped chasing chasing Sparky. The video is 30 seconds of the Palmas harassing the Sparky. A few times I hear the lid flop, which probably means Sparky is trying to jump out.

hmm. I just looked at your original post. I had no idea you have had Sparky so long! That makes my heart smile. I think you said in the original post that the Palmas is the largest? Does it seem to get along well with the moke?

Do you have the 55g still set up? Some nipping is normal as they figure out their social groups/ hierarchy. However, If it has gotten to the point where the palmas is consistently chasing, biting, hurting Sparky every time she comes near, you could try moving the Palmas to the 55g, while letting the other polys acclimate to the 90g. This might not stop the aggression long term, but it could help Sparky and the moke establish the tank as "theirs." Then when you put the palmas back in, Sparky and the moke might be more confident to deter undesirable behavior from the palmas.

Another option is getting a 4th or 5th poly in the tank that is roughly the same size as the palmas.

The 55 is not set up. Not sure about getting another poly…would the bio load be similar? I don’t want to make it harder on my self.
