The Pout-Pout Fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
what are your water params so we can know for sure...jk

Haha! I'm not an Oscar person but as long as he's healthy and active (apart from the ick) I see no problem. Fish are individuals just like people.

P.S. Glad to know some one other than me names their fish =P

I only name the special ones... Spooky got his name by accident, when I was at the LFS I had him picked out and he was following my finger around on the glass. I raised my I finger up to the tank another time, but had my sunglasses in my hand this time and he darted behind the decor in the tank just as the girl asked if needed any help. I was laughing at the silly scared fish and responded, "Yea, I think I'm gonna take Spooky here home with me..." and it stuck.

I didn't name any of my research fish (names bias results...), but I did have to track individuals throughout my experiments, so they were all given letters, A-W, and I definitely had favorites... If you are totally lost and interested to know WTF I am talking about, you can follow up on my other thread... http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/threads/trout-tank.646910/

Not lost at all. Well not as far as the idea of experimental and observational data goes. Makes perfect sense. I have young nieces and nephews so naming fish is inevitable.

Okay, I didn't want to taint any comments from the beginning, but I have a hypothesis for how this lip got to be so big, and the broken jaw from a fight in his early days gets close to my thoughts... I used to feed this dude whole frozen gumdrops of bloodworms, when was half of his current size, and he would do what he had to in order to get them in his mouth (beside waiting for them to thaw... which he did not see as an option). How many people agree that he may have stretched and/or broken his own jaw this way? Either way, he is back to his normal aggressive feeding self today, finally has kicked the last of this ich spots. 100% sponsor the salt and heat technique, at least for oscars...
