The Rare Asian Giant Carp Temoleh(Parobarbus Jullieni)

That was probably one of the nicest carp ive ever seen.

I remember on animal planet that they said on this program about people keeping tigers as pets that there are ten times more tigers in the US as pets then in the wild all over the world.

I think this fish will die out in the wild at the rate the people are fishing them out. But I wounder could someone be able to breed these fish in a heated pond or super sized fish tank for fish tank use? If people are able to breed these fish in captivity that would be good for the speices in that people wouldn't have to take them out of the wild as pets.

I know for one thing I wouldn't keep a fish this big unless I hate a 5000 plus sized tank.

I've seen similar ones with red eyes. Don't know what they are called. Wes (Fugupuff) probably knows.

CITEs has nothing to do with us being able to own it. CITEs has to do with inter country trade. thats it

CITES require certain paperwork and such. it regards inter country trade, and has little to no control once its within the US.

CITES bans international trade, i agree .
but this fish is also under IUCN Red List as Endangered, and i believe it is also in the federal Endangered Species Act , so more than likely, one of these regulations do restrict us from keeping these ( at least not with a permit)

the good news is, i'm pretty certain there are farms in Thailand and Vietnam for these : ) ive read a bunch of sources that said there are, so i really hope thats true
