I think a big part missing from your blog is CA's proximity to Asian countries in relation to the rest of the country. Everything that comes from Asia comes in through California. Naturally, more prolific hobbyists will situate themselves amongst the area and pick-and-choose the rarities that cross their paths. Very few AAA fish make it past California's border.

True I didn't say it outright, but I did mention LAX. Because of that airport, we get imports from all over the worlds, a lot of wild caught fish from south america, africa, asia, etc.. etc... Thanks for pointing that out!

Best fish stores in the SF Bay Area in Northern Ca are owned by Asians....As a matter of fact, I think that about half of the mom and pop LFS in Northern CA are owned by Asians...

If you traveled outside of the US like I did you can tell Asians are into fishes...Hong Kong for example, their fish selection and stores are far superior than the United States...

Good point but just like good quality asian fish rarely go out to you guys good quality illegal (to cali) fish ever make here. Can you imagine if fw rays were legal in cali I really think that the quality of rays would compete with that of japan or other high paying countries.
