The reckoning

Paint is drying, Stand lumber tomorrow and maybe start building the stand.

Well started the stand today, got 44 2x4x8' and 4 2x4x10', 22 45" cross 2x4 pieces. I want this thing to be super strong because its going to support about 7000 lbs. Pre drilled 1/8 inch holes and using 3 inch screws. With out pre drilling you would never get the thing together and still with them being 3 inches its going to be super super tight. I kinda hope to get the tank on the stand this weekend, tomorrow short day at work then home to keep building this thing. You might ask why double the 2x4 in center, I figure I just want to have it really really strong, Stand will cost about 250.00 when fully finished I think. already 115.00 in 2x4

Starts to make the room look small doesn't it. LOL largest gap is 13 inches in the stand, smallest is the ends single 2x4 at about 4 inches. Most 8-9 inches. The guy who had it before me had singles every about 15 inches. I am starting to think I will just put half inch plywood on top after looking at this thing, I dont think I need 3/4inch.

Thanks Ya I can't wait to get it into the finished room. Ya cost of plywood really won't be much I agree. I am thinking just a couple center supports and not a bunch anymore. Get this part done later after work then run to the Lowes for plywood.

If it were me, I would go ahead and use 3/4. You probably dont need it but its not that much more expensive and if your going to do it,why not over do it. Looking great so far, cant wait to see the finished product.

Well went to get plywood tonight and finished getting the main top section all together. I decided on 19/32 osb for the top and 15/32 for the side of the tank. I got 2 sheets of the thicker and 4 of the thin stuff. I figure I will leave a 30" section open for a door in the front of the stand and also just use a section of the thicker on one side. I was tired and worn out so didn't get any more work done than that. Tomorrow but all the other pieces and screw it all together. I will admit with how heavy and large everything is I with I had someone to help me with this. The stand it's self will be 400 pounds by the time I am done. Lol

Wow. That 600g is huge! So did you decide on keeping the 450g? They both would make for one awesome man cave..;)

Edit: Just went back and read your posts again--I must of missed that post, you sold it...damn man that woulda looked great in addition to your 600g lol

ya I know it would have been really cool, The L shape would have been hard to deal with already having this crazy large tank in the basement, so I will probably look for a 300 or 2XX something to go in with it. But for now I have enough in tanks and I need more stock.

Ya I use to build Office furniture and have gone through allot of drills, this one by far is the best I have found. Its starting to get a bit old but still does really really well and I love that the batteries charge in only 15 min. Not that I can burn one out in that time but if by chance I could I would be constantly going. And for working with 3inch screws you have to have a good drill with power.

I love that Makita impact screw driver. I have the size smaller and it really drives screws. The lipo batteries last for ever too! Good choice for stand building.
