Hey! My diagram was written on my 8 year old daughters notebook. It's only been exposed to three playgrounds and 2 apartment complexes, a roller skating rink, the local taco bell and sushi bar ( i love sushi ) and i didn't notice any odor beyond the norm...so that must mean that bichirs are smart!

Here I thought my endli was an ambush predator with a unique lung like organ that allowed her to balance on objects and ambush the fast swimming barbs I had in the tank at the time. NOPE, she was actually playing tag with them and got carried away and ate them.. ah man silly fish, they're such jokers. *facepalm*

Out of all the polypterids I have kept, the senegals are by far the best hunters. They perk up first when food hits, and are usually full before most other species have moved from their hiding places.
Not sure if that counts as smarts, or just greedy.
