Awwww :)

I have a cockatiel. She's 8 right now and I got her as a little baby :) She was in a bird shop in Naples, Florida and she was hiding at the back of the tank (Yes. They had her in a fish tank.) But when I came up to the glass she started running up and down the newspaper. So, I picked her out, and then learned a couple months later that the whole store had burned down  So I like to say I saved her life :D

What store was this - I don't remember any pet stores in Naples burning down.

Im not 100% sure if it burned down. Haha. But it was completely destroyed and there were burn marks on the outside.

It was downtown..

I don't remember any pet stores downtown other than like Pet Supermarket...weird.

A lovely story. Not lovely because of the horrible abuse, because of the rescue. If the bird was that sick that si might die within a week's time and needed intensive vet care, I think they should have given you the bird for free.

you are a kind person to animals

if i was an animal, i'd want you to be my owner

+1 Wait til she has kids, that compassion is just going to carry right over

Odds are they were trying to give it to you for free but you missed the wink.

Yep. I was at a pet expo where a "bird breeder" that had cockatiels and lovebirds had one little blue parrotlet in a tiny cage at the end of the table. She was completely naked from her neck down, the cage had only two toys that were hard plastic and she was being fed finch seed. When I asked about her they said that they planned on breeding her, but never got around to finding her a mate. I had been planning on buying a short tailed possum, but instead came home with a scrawny parrotlet.

SPCA probably took it, or a friend took it...dropped off at LFS...then they had to vaccinate it to make sure the rest of there birds didn't get sick.

I would assume thats where the price, and the details came from.

Yeppers that's how it happened. But their was something about Boomer, it tore me to peaces. Im friends with the owner and she told me what happened to Boomer. But I would like to get a holkd of the guy that did that to my baby. Boomer is so special. My vet gave me a few free visits since he new what I was doing. He does that on occasion for me. He knows Im a freak when it comes to my animals.
