THE SUMP MONSTER

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Why can't you ignore the few feeder fish that end up in the sump? may be catch them again once a month? I'm sure the RTC adds a bigger bio load than the feeder fish that end up in the sump.

Run your drains into filter socks and the fish stay in the sock.

Hmm I really like the sock idea. Thanks for the input guys. For now ill leave sump monster where he is and maybe when he gets too big try a sock or sponge

If your overflow is strong, any fish trapped in the filter sock will be dead with the strong splashing. My overflow pushes approx 800-900 GPH, didn't use a strainer drain in the top of overflow pipe, as I was experimenting with maximizing my water output. Found a 3" dead cichlid in the filter sock, splashed to death! I'm a sump newbie, that was dumb!

I pull festae fry out of my socks all the time. Dozens........ Im pushing around 2200-2400gph through the system.

Extend your drains down below the water line and there's no splashing, and no dead fish.
