which ones do u guys recommend i dont want anything to pricey though.

I am constantly amazed how people splurge on fish but want to cut corners when it come to life-support systems. :shakehead

You wanna go cheap, then get a sponge filter. If you get a cheap canister then you can add the cost of replacement a few years down the road, plus consider possible filter failure. The cheapest in the long run is a reliable canister like Eheims.

would the eheim classic canister rated for 66 gallons be good to use for the pbass? canisters offer a better bio load than HOB right?

Yes, canisters have better biocapacity than HOBs. For a 60 gal I'd recommend an Eheim 2217 with a reasonably low stocking of fish. I run a 2217 on my 40 gal...

yes i have to admit i always cut corners on equipment and waste all my money on the fish. i am going to put a couple 8 inch pbass in there so the eheim 2217 would it still be the best for me. but the eheim 2217 is rated for 159 gallons are u sure it isnt too powerful for the 60 gallon

I don't get it. A filter is the liver of your tank, detoxifying the system. It's the heart of your tank, creating water movement. It's the lungs of your tank, providing aeration. It's the spleen and bone marrow of your tank, providing that extra buffer and regeneration of the biosystem.

All these functions are combined in a filter. Any of these fail and your precious fish go belly up. I think a reliable means of filtration is a life-insurance for your fish...

Having said that, I see that you are making an exception to your rule and you are going for the Eheim. You will not be disappointed. I am running the 2217 on a 40 gal, it will not be too much current for your p-bass in a 60 gal. Good choice.

go for a jebo canister and maybe a powerhead/sponge filter..

the jebos cost half of what everything else does and IMO they work great

however theres also the great petsmart deal
http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2753132

they only have the 2026 on special now.. they had the 2028 as well a few weeks ago... i picked one up... fyi if yours shows up broken dont bother contacting petsmart.. just go straight to eheim the CS is wonderful.. they shiped out the broken part same day at no cost.. with a prepaid return envelope for the broken part but they said i dont "really" need to send it back..

mine showed up with the hose connecter broken.. poor packing on eheims part.. its the only piece thats not in a cardboard box...
