a little of this, and a little of that. Low light plants in some, julies in others, a few will be the sole decisions of the more advanced students. I'm thinking it will fill up faster then I would like LOL!

Back at it today!!!!!!! No kids, but first day of work. Stupid, pointless trainings. Getting the room all tuned up. Now trying to decide what I want to put im my classroom 55 gal. Probably my breeding GT's this year, at least for a bit. Might rotate some fish around here and there as the year goes by. Can't wait for summer.

Does the American school year start 1st of September like UK? Teacher training is 1st sept for me, going to a golf club to bond and such, all day fun, meals and get paid...ahhhh this is the life lol Then the 2nd of sept is down to business with the new class, i'm in year 4 which is second year of key stage 2.........3rd grade?

Depends on each school district, but all of them start around mid to late aug. No fancy bonding parties for my little school. Just trainings that lead to teachers asking questions that make me question their ability to teach.
"What do we do if a student doesn't want to do the homework?"
"It says to teach the students measurements in October, how do I do that?"
and other stuff.

what's the point of homework at primary/elementary school? I know here in Australia back when I was at primary school we had maths and english little session things every morning so I could never forget what I learned. That's the reason for homework right, to make yourself remember the work you did the day before? or is it more preparing you for highschool with healthy homework habits ?

how did i miss this thread. i teach the local children thuganomics at the corner before, during, after school.

i love teaching.

Like Oscarcrazy said, it depends on the school district. School usually starts (for kids) the first week of September (in Oregon).

Oscarcrazy, does your school always start so early? We were going to start the week before Labor Day, but all the parents pitched a fit, so now kids start September 8th.
