Your goonch makes me miss my 2 footer

Truly amazing creatures right!?!? Guessing if this one had a tail it would be around that size, BUT if he had a tail I don't think any of the rays would ever get food. Always said that fish's handicap is a blessing in disguise for a ray keeper..... Regardless, the Goonch will be getting its own tank soon, as I'm guessing it would be capable of folding and downing a pup like I do tacos, so time in the big tank will be limited. Once all the tanks/systems in my lower basement are done then this tank's stock will be thinned.

I need a lesson in how to take pics of these things - they never stop pacing.

Did manage to get a pic of one of the janitors though - a very old and fat Irwinni.

Nice video and photos. I see Lucy in the back. She is a beautiful beast. Good luck in your plan. I find a mixed Characin tank either a hit or a miss. Never know what will happen next.

Lol all the teasing, you know we want the pics and vids, as many as we can get, and agreed when I saw your vid pop up the other day in my subscriptions on YouTube that goonch had looked like it grew a lot from the last time I remember it. Lucy looks good in that first pic where she's at the opposite end laying straight out. Your irwini is gorgeous as always, the one that made me read up on them.

Ken and jib are good at taking pics of their dorados, can't say I know how as I live vicariously through you guys lol. The Hillary look good, just a lot more alongated than the brassy so I see your concern, hopefully it works out, all those dorado together makes for a great tank and the mixed species, we can only come to you for now ;)

Really like the Brycon Mel. in there also. great mix of Characins

Thank you! Wish I trusted the unkind 9 more, I'd try to add the Odoe, but feel they'd just kill themselves trying to escape the non stop pacing the unkind 9 make me love them for......

The larger of the 2 Brycon actually lived out in Rich's (VLDesign) for several years.... When he decided to mave I was given the opportunity to bring it home. He was brought back to Iowa from Chicago in a 150 gallon rubbermaid.....

Fast forward to 2 years ago when we moved I built a big temp pond to hold everything while all the tanks went back up. I went down to check on the pond one morning and there the Brycon is laying next to the pond. Blood smeared around on the floor. No movement. I sadly grabbed the fish by the tail and took it outside. When I dropped what felt like a 10 pounder on the ground it moved. I ran back in and down to the pond where I held him in the filter out for about 1/2 hour.... Was able to get him to swim right. Been good since. Guessing this fish has to be close to a decade old.

The smaller Brycon has had a rough ride as well - at about 7 inches I rescued him from the belly of a Gulper. Only the tail was hanging out. These fish are amazingly tough as he bounced back in a few weeks.

I believe without the big Brycon this tank wouldn't work like it does. He's the peace keeper. Ive actually caught the silver Aro picking on him. Little does the Aro know if it doesn't knock it off before its time to move the Goonch out he'll be going with the Goonch.
