The problem with catfish in a JD tank is they both spend most of their time near the substrate, and JDs are territorial, not wanting to share area with another, especially in such a tiny tank.
In nature JDs share habitat with Rhamdia catfish, but they are also each others enemies. The catfish eat JD fry and the JDs eat catfish fry.
2 videos below of them in nature, turn the volume down, the sound my breathing will be annoying. Eden2 Cristalino
i think your layout and decor helps a lot. i tend to incorporate smaller branches to create rifts and hollows vs. an enclosed hole that the cat will disappear into. my raphael is fairly active. i see him and my jaguar cat patrolling every morning when i wake up actually.
plus both of them are great at cleaning up leftover food in their respective tanks.
