Wow pangolins are cool too! I'd never even heard of them before..
Sadly, there are poached for food and so called aphrodisiac purposes in parts of Asia.

Jeez. What isn't?

Seems like anything even vaguely phallic (which, depending how into Freud you are could be like, everything) gets ground up into homeopathic Viagra powder.

when i was a kid living in SoCal mountains, me and my older brother caught a skunk, I was sprayed in the face as I was the one holding the bag, kept him for a week or so in a home made kennel out side, then he got away. we got a possum also that summer. he also got away and ate my banny chickens.

Pangolins are under CITES appendix 2. While Ap. 2 allows for trade in the species, the wild-caught allowable quota is at zero. That means that CITES II allows trade in captive-bred specimens only.

At any rate, keeping a pangolin fed sufficiently on termites and ants is likely more than a pet-keeper can maintain.

Penguins came up before. There were like 7 or 8 species that were not under any protection and could be kept. However, there are no suppliers for those species. If you want them, you have to go get them.

Wouldn't want that constant sour fish-poop smell anyway.

I actually have pangolin scales lying somewhere in my room. got them a long time ago back in china as a "souvenir" from a relative. i guess it's a taboo delicacy in Asia.

There was a time when you could get a platypus as a pet. But, they don't travel well and many died in transit. Trade in live specimens became banned and even zoos must obtain permission from the Crown to obtain live specimens for their exhibits. Said permission is only given after extensive inspection of the habitat setup.
