Before joining MFK back in December I spent some time reading lots of threads to get insight on information, maybe fresh ideas on fishkeeping. Have to say a lot of the threads were painful beyond belief had me saying "DAYYYM." Most of these were around 2016 and before. In honor of the ignorant, the stupid and just plain ridiculous these are some of my favorite topics. Threads for the sole purpose of getting attention, not information:

"My fish are killing each other. It's been going on for a week. What do I do?"

"I'm using a 20 gallon as a growout tank for my baby oscars. You can upgrade in a few months."

"Severums and Oscars aren't cichlids, for real"

"Is a large sump too much filtration for a small tank? I wanna keep a red terror or two in my 30 gallon. A sump would add water volume."

"I got (fish X) to teach (fish Y) a lesson".

"Fish X is the most badass. My fish X tore up all my other fish! U should have seen it." (underwater death matches!)

"My own personal care sheet straight off GOOGLE. And no, I never kept these fish myself."

"Water changes are overdone. Big deal."

"My fish are sick. I don't get it,the tank water is clear. Anybody got ideas?"

"Turtles are ok with fish, I do it all the time. Go ahead if you want."

"Is my 55 gallon tank overstocked with 10 cichlids and a pleco?"

"I change water once a month and my fish are ok. Sometimes I just top it off."

"Does my fish have Ick, velvet, fungus or what? I've used lots of medicines but they aren't working."

"You should give your fish feeders it helps the predatory instinct. Goldfish are cheap."

=======

So what are your favorites, without naming names? I also liked the multiple posting asking the same thing with different words. I also noticed most of these earlier members haven't posted in years (not that I'm complaining).

Climb under the bridge, join happy trolls everywhere!!!!!!

Person 1: Will fish x work in my tank?

Person 2: No, fish x will get to big for your tank.

Person 1: Anyone else?

Person 3: I've never kept fish x but I think it will work.

Person 1: I'm getting the fish.
I think I saw something like this recently.

Someone once told me fancy goldfish are guaranteed to grow to 12 in h and common goldfish are guaranteed to grow to 24 inches and if they don’t then they are automatically stunted. Still makes me mad to this day.

Do I have a devil, a midas or a midevil? My fish is one or the other I'm not sure. Can anybody tell from this picture?"
(No matter how many times this is explained. The op goes on to say that the two are often crossed in the hobby. So pretty much answering their own question.) :hitting:

Nothing about fish care at all.

This guy at petco who I absolutely can not stand kept on saying that I couldn’t do what I was planning. I had cycled my 75 gallon and was keeping the cycle with some fish while I searched for the perfect oscar and once I had found him I planned on moving the fish back to their tank then put the oscar in there.
He is an arrogant person who believes he knows everything and even argues with his superior who knows more than him about fish, I just truly can not stand him.
Oh yeah, he also said a senegal bichir needed a 180 gallon and the 4-5 incher was going to outgrow my 75 in 3 months. I left with the bichir.

Let's not forget these:

Pissing contests and thread derails in general about fish size, fish 'badassery', or how much to stock or water change. The idea is to clog up threads and tick everybody off for *its and giggles. Followed by the thread getting closed or someone going on probation. Or the troll simply disappears and is never heard from again...their posts are 5-10 years old.

Not to mention people who want advice then say "I'm doing this anyway I don't believe you" or ask the same stuff over and over in the same thread, not paying attention at all.
