The Unbeatable Fog

What color is the water if you look at it in a white cup? How long are the lights on for, and does any sunlight at all get in the tank? What media is in the filters?

The RO/DI water is the same water the store I have bought everything else from is using in their planted tanks with Amazonia soil. The KH and GH buffers are added by them so I would have to get water elsewhere to go without the buffers completely. I used to add some extra to the water before I put it in my tank because my KH kept dropping, but it has stabilized so I have not had to add any in a month or so.

The cloud looks white in a tank, yellow in a white cup. The lights are on for 8 hours a day and no sunlight hits the tank.

All the filters are running the media that they came with, only with a little purigen added. I didn't know enough to start messing with the media, and only added the purigen as a recommendation to fix this problem.

I did find a magnum H.O.T. 250 yesterday for cheap so I picked that up and put some D.E. in there. It has been running for about 20 hours now and has cleared up ~30% of it. It is still foggy, but it did make a difference. Maybe if I let it run for a few days it might fix it? I thought it would work quicker, but maybe not. If I had noticed the recommendation for polyester fill from wal-mart yesterday I probably would have tried that first.

Thanks again for the help, you guys are awesome!

Are you buying water with equilibrium and buffers every time you do a water change? I'm confused!!
