Looking good! Do you wish you'd made the ponds larger to begin with, or are you pretty happy with their size for now?

im happy with the size right now but if budget would have allowed i would have prefered to have the final size in right now. but im not too worried about it.

:headbang2
First update pics in awhle so i better have alot of responces.... lol

Now for the filters(might do homemade canisters if i figure out how)

I'll think on the filter issue and see what I can come up with.

Are you wanting the filters enclosed underneath the enclosure, or can they be outside of it in the room?

Here is a quick question. How many and what permits did you have to pull to get and build this enclosure and get the caiman?

One of these days Im gonna read your whole thread, but for now..
PRETTY GOOOOOD LOOKING!!

You build on demand? :D

0 permits. i live in pa, our reptile laws only affect native species. Unless u live in an area that has other laws u can own what ever reptile u want.

Our laws for fuzzy animals is a bit annoying and stupid but reptile laws are awesome!!

conner, want something under the enclosure.

thats all the responces i get? harumph:irked:

I think he might have meant building permits... :D

As far as internal (under enclosure) filters go, I would say install a bulkhead at the water level you want in the ponds. Then have them drain into a rubbermaid tub (whatever size will fit under the unclosure). Have them filter through some some of mechanical pad, then through a bunch of pot scrubbies or lava rock, and then have a pump (either submersible or external) pump it back to a second bulkhead in the pond. You could get creative and use the returns to make fountains, or maybe a small waterfall (although that would require altering the interior a little).

A sump is probably going to be your best bet, although I suppose you could set up a canister filter (FX5, maybe?) and plumb it through bulkheads as well. If you go with the sump, you just have to make sure that it can't overflow in case of a power outage.

If you use canisters, you'll probably need a canister for each pond. If you use a sump, you may be able to plumb both ponds to drain into a single sump.
