The ]v[onster has begun!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
looks amazing man i like your design you can upgrade to 300 gal stock tanks or could even drop a frame and build a pond within the tank its a great design.

would you not be easier building a sump for this thing ? with a sump you could bring it right to the front of the enclosure and make cleaning a breeze.

add an extra output and you could have a waterfall rain system what ever you feel might be fun

if i was you i would stick a bulkhead in the ponds and run pvc to the bottom or make yourself some form of bottom drain to draw crap of the bottom of the ponds.

im not sure how much waist these things make but if you check out some dart from forums they use wood chip coc bedding ect to make substrates.

if you go with something with lots of space like the wood chips you can seed it with microfauna like wood lice and sprintails, feed them up so you get get a nice population going then add the beast to the cage.
then if all goes well you just mist down the crap in the tank and the bacteria and microfauna in the substarte should break the rubbish downl

aww!! hopefully ull make it up here sometime!! of course after this past winter why would u want to! lol. it was bad. and i worked everytime one of the major storms hit.

for filtration, im still not sure. iv considerd many option. i need something simple yet effective. if anyone could offer some drawings for a sump that would be sweet. i have never had a sump. no clue how to do a pvc over flow.

for an upgrade, it will be in the summer. i will have a small enclosure outside and take it out. will then remove rear pond. a pond outline will be cut out of the wood. using styrophome the pond will be shapped in the hole. then time for fiberglass. will last and be perfect for customization.

ooo i like the sound of it.
you could go the hole hog and build a filter system that the big pond can handle for pretty cheap

just drill holes in the top of the ponds and fit a bulkhead run both ponds to one barrel have the rubbish flow up one barrel ( have a drain on it so you can just open a valve to clean )

then have it over flow into the second barrel filled with media and finaly to a 3rd barrel with pump heater ect.
it would make cleaning the ponds as simple as open valve drain crap close refill in barrel 3 job done.
or you could go for one settling chamber then a 150 stock tank filled with media then add the pump heaters in there
you wont need to bugger with vacum over flows or thing like that just go simple
alot of people seem to try to over complicate it but it is basicly water hits hole overflows down pipe to filter then pumped back
nice simple and effective.
you could even rig up so the **** is drawing from the bottom of the barrel

here is my rendition of the overflow you could use to get the crap of the pond bottom

basicly a T to prevent the system sucking water back if a power fail occurs going down the the bottom of the tank if you feel really fancy you could build one of these

im not sure how a plate might be a start

how will you hold them off if/when you get into the enclosure to do repairs and poo clean up?

very carefully. lol
