My zombie plan I think would work. In the first report of a attack I would build my house which is already a stronghold into a better one. Board all windows n lock all metal doors. Then after the attack is over and has spread world wide it should start to calm down some. Then Ill go to my barn get 2 horses, then I would saddle them and pack weapons wood cutting equipment, and food for both of us. Then I would take less taken paths to a secluded wooded area. Like a set of big woods near a small town. Then I would take all the wood cutting equipment and cut down enough tree's and gather enough wood from buildings to build a fort off the ground up in the trees. And I mean a big one that goes on from tree to tree to tree. And I would build a rope ladder to get up and down it. Then I would use my blacksmith abilities since I learned how to use a forge to make edged weapons out of metal!

And I wonder... Would zombies attack animals?

You obviously didn't see the first episode of walking dead. The main character rode a horse and the zombies spooked the horse and ended up killing/eating the horse. The best place to hide would be a grocery/convenient store like Walgreens since they have pretty good supply rooms that are completely concerted up and have supplies that can last for months or years depending on the degree of the outbreak.

Trust me my horses won't spook. They have little kids screaming running and pulling on them all the time. And i wouldn't ride into the like he did. I would be riding where there are either no zombies or few. And A horse can always out run a zombie

Pulling hair and screaming is just a wee bit different them digging your fingers into their flesh trying to feed...

Ok but thats if they can run down a horse running full speed... And I don't thin a decaying body with no muscles or tendons can run to good.

Some animals respond very strongly to the smell of death and blood. The horse might be okay with kids but be completely different around a predator, and sure it could outrun them but would you still be on it at that point?

I ride my horses full run without a saddle n only a halter. Id be on unless a zombie pulled me off... But thats why ill make a big spear to stab with from distance. it will be like a lance.

I also see your point on the animals responding
