Whole timeline is throwing me off a bit. Good episode tonight, kinda funny that the Governor has seemed to have tamed Myrl.

Reading the comics along side this this is all crazy because it plays out much different than in the show. In the comics Rick, Glenn, and Michonne are the ones who discover the crash and are meet with the Gov.

I like how they're doing it differently. Keeps it fresh. Personally, I wouldn't want it to be the same thing rehashed.

At first glance I thought the Governor was Liam Neeson with died hair.

I really think that whole shoot the soldiers scene would have gone down a bit differently considering that they are soldiers. Even if they are only the national gaurd I really find it hard to believe that they would have acted like a bunch of greenhorns when he shot the first one. Or at the very least they would have had some security on detail considering the zombie apoc nature of things.

Yeah I was really curious as to how things were going to go down in the next few episodes so I grabbed the book 1 compendium I believe (all the comics of the first 3 seasons in 1 book ). It does seem to be playing out a lot differently. But I still enjoy it. Kind of like the Game of Thrones series on the TV screen as opposed to the books. A little different but still totally enjoyable.

Interesting points Chef... I guess the men were off guard and a little at ease due to seeing living human beings rather than walkers approaching them...I was wondering where the one guy wearing the backwards baseball cap got his MP5 sub machine gun from?

All it takes to pull security from walkers is a couple people with weapons keeping an eye out, it's much different than repelling a complex ambush, which is what they were subjected to by the people from the town. They weren't in position to handle the attack and no good cover. The attackers had the advantage of cover, concealment and enfilading fire on the Soldiers; this means that the Soldiers were surrounded in the inside of an L shaped crossfire. It makes it very difficult if not impossible to take cover in this situation and doctrine dictates falling back in order to get cover and out of the enfilade in order to lay down suppressive fire, fix the enemy and either repel the attack and / or assault through yourself.

Had the attackers assaulted through the objective they wouldn't have had the problem of the one Soldier trying to fall back after they assaulted to the objective.

We use MP5s for SRT (military SWAT equivalent) to lay down high rates of suppressive fire with minimal penetration in urban areas.

I can't see your location on my phone, are you in the U.S.?..I wasn't aware that that weapon was widely used by our law enforcement or military, not the "K" version ,which was what the guy had, anyway.

Yeah I live in the US.

It's not widely used by any stretch of the imagination. Its used in specialized situations where we are concerned about the penetration of the 5.56. You'd be surprised at some of the unusual things the military has in small quantities. HK is a frontrunner in the design competitions for what is going to replace the M4, too. The HK 45 was designed for military use but the government decided not to switch from the M9 based on financial concerns. HK and the US military has a long history of cooperation. :)

I had heard about the rumors of the military replacing the M9 but I never heard an outcome.Getting back to the show though it just seemed a little odd that this random guy just pops in a scene with such a weapon. It made me wonder hypothetically how he got his hands on it.

Does seem a bit odd that he had it, but not unprecedented. He was probably part of the reaction force to the civil unrest that the LT mentioned happening.

Regardless, no point in speculating in a fictional show! LOL
