"The wall" - 625g + 150g side-by-side (project)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Killer build!
Stock plans?

I´ll start with my current fishes: RTG aro, flagtail, dull eyed pleco and a few CA cichlids.
I have considered cichla, but that would mean giving away my current stock, which I will not do.

In the future, I would like to add a gar and a leopoldi stingray, but I believe I can´t with the fishes I have. But we´ll see

Huge understocked tanks are awesome! I need to go bigger...

Probably a silly question, but why does it look like its just sitting randomly in the middle of the room? Going to be viewed from all sides or something?

Actually there will be two tanks side by side: this one (3m/10ft) and my current cichlids tank (1,8m/6ft). So the idea is to have a 4,8m/16ft front.
In the back there will be a few extra back-up tanks (a 1,2x0,6x0,7m or 4´x2´x28" is already there).

So there will be 2 viewable sides (front and right).

More work:

Sump
mechanical filtration: 200micra filter sockets placed in 6" pvc holders. You may also see a direct connection to the sewage to prevent a sump overflow

Bio: I used eggcrate to create a section for the media separated from the last section of the sump, as I may also use it for isolation/recovery of an injured fish
Unfortunately, I couldn´t find any eggcrate (sold out) and wasn´t willing to wait 2 weeks. So I had to put together several small pieces I had (plus some Miguel gave me) and do a bit of patchwork Anyway, it works for the time being.

The last section of the sump (on the right) will have the return pumps, thermostats and sand filters. In the future it may also get more media if needed

And a 1st attempt of DW aquascaping (sbject to some adjusting in the future).
The right side will also be viewable so it has less dw; on the right of the tank I will put the 150g (you may see in one pic a black tape that marks the end of the depth of the 2nd tank)
(some) black stones and plants yet to go in
