The Weakest Cichlid

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
so they may be to aggresive for dwarf chichlids but not tough enough for others? does it just vary fish to fish or is there any good setup?

Gold saum gts. I had one ( about 4'' ) that would get abused by my tinfoil-barbs, and this was when he was not getting pushed around by a tiny 1'' con. It was a sad sight to see.

I've had the same 2 FMs in my 150g for about 3yrs now. I would say it would depend on the FMs as to there survival. I had mine with 3 breeding pairs(trimac, urothalmus, salvinii). Traded the trimacs, sold the uros, still have the salvinii's. The FMs are still there also. Maybe mine are just immortal

I have 2 firemouths with 4 jack dempsey's, a red devil, and a green terror, 1 is very submissive, but the other has grown quickly and backs down to no one. He is more aggressive than the bigger jacks and even the red devil doesn't bother him anymore. Not that my bigger fish couldn't kill him if they really got the urge, but he would definitely not back down

i have 1 4in midas had 1 5in jack 1 4in fire mouth and a 4in texas woke up the other morning and the midas killed all of them he was going crazy moving everything in the tank he hid the jacks body in a castle i couldnt find him for 2 days the smell was bad this is in a 125gal. jmm

Wow this is awkward, it's the other way around for me 0.0

my fire mouths beat the **** out of my convics. and my convics are huge, 6" male con and 3" female

4" male fm
and 4" female belive it or not

they've been together in a 40 gallon for over a year now :P

I agree with Jason_s, that firemouths can seem recklessly confrontational, they think they are tough but usually end up taking more damage than they can inflict upon an opponent. I've also seen a firemouth lose a lower jaw to a pacu.
