Hey guys, this is my first fish tank and when i set it up i put the filters hanging on the sides instead of on the back side.

So today i went and bought a glass top for a 75g tank and it has 4 pieces of glass and comes with 2 plastic cut outs, now according to my glass i cant place it correctly without moving my filters to the back side of my tank, the issue im having here is my tank is to close to the wall and to hevy to push away from the wall without draining the water?! any one have any suggestions on what i should do i really dont wanna drain the water and push it out from the wall but i will if needed... :(

I would drain it and move it further from the wall. It won't take very long.

Yeah, not much you can do if you want to use the premade tops. As Angler said, draining and moving it shouldn't take too long.

okay guys thanks for the info i feel so dumb :( guess ill be doing that tomorrow, wonder how far to drain it before 2 people can move it? 50%?

The dimension chart says a 75 gallon equals 850 pounds when full. You'd want to take it down pretty far to make sure you guys don't crack it. Good thing the fish are juvies

Can I admit I giggled when I read this? Haha, don't feel too bad, people do way worse.

How many gallons is the tank? You want to be really careful moving it with too much water, it can stress and weaken the seams. You're better off draining the whole thing (shove the hose out the window if you can) and saving a few buckets of water to put back in. Potentially you could get a piece of glass or plexiglass cut to lay on the ledge inside, if you didn't want to move the tank.

eta: I missed that it was 75g, yeah you'd want to drain it nearly all the way down before attempting to move it.

Well what if i just return the pre cut glass for the 75g and just get some glass and cut it, it would work just as good? any one have any idea on were i can find glass / plexiglass like this and what i could cutt it with, would rather do that then take the risk of break my seams in the tank.....

Also why would sliding the tank forward ave a chance to break or crack the seams?

I have 125 with the over flow on the end, went to Lowes got a piece of plexi glass cut to fit. Make is short enough on the end to let you filter stay where it is. Drill a finger hole to open it, cheaper and works great.
