In terms of power, graphics and lifetime, yea the 360 is much better. Not too long from now, the original Xbox will be pretty much dead.
I still maintain that if you don't already have one that you should wait untill Christmas to buy one. There are not too many games out that are absolute must have games. I've had fun with mine, but like I said, I could have waited had a known there were so few games for it right now.
On the other hand, if you have the money and it doesn't bother you to wait for more games, go for it. I don't regret my purchase, I just wished I would have waited.
My Games:
PGR3- A lot of fun but very easy. I blew through the game in 5 hours. Unlike PGR2, I have no real desire to go through and go for all Platinum medals.
MotoGP 06- I really like this game, it's the only one I'm currently playing. A lot of people don't like it for some reason. It takes awhile to get used to th handling.
Call Of Duty 2- Meh. That pretty much sums it up. It was fun and kind of hard ( on the hardest setting it's damn near impossible) but I have no desire to play through it again and again.
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter- I liked this game. Challenging but not impossible. I haven't touched it since beating it.
My biggest gripe is how short the few games I've bought are. With all the hype around this generation of games, you think they could make the gameplay last longer than a few hours. The only game I've got a considerable amount of time into is MotoGP. All in due time I guess, there are plenty of games in the pipeline that ought to be great. (Halo 3, Forza 2, GTA4)
