I AGREE....Most keepers that stick to the hobby eventually get into breeding...FIrst the convicts, then the bigger cichlids, then the exotics.....I started off with goldfish, and 20 years later in my garage, I end up with 1000's of Pygocentrus Natteri fry every month...I have been reading more about the freshwater stingray since my return.....I am not definate, but I will think of starting a breeding colony of FW rays.....WIth my carpentry/mason skills, I think I can build an indoor pond in the garage for fraction of the cost of what I have seen being charged....Captive breeding is the furture of the fish hobby....
 
There is almost no stopping a govt.from dangerous environmental activity as long as big money is the end result we all know that so there is no need to hurl blame and insults here.This should be a wake up call to the atrocities that can be stopped such as sending hunters to cut off bears feet and rhino horns to create sex powder,herding dolphin into lagoons and mass slaughtering them untill the water is red.I really enjoyed reading this thread but was saddened to learn about the termination of this dolphin as I knew very little about it before now and its now gone the way of the Dodo.
 
Historical we can find evidence of many groups killing off a particular aniaml. It is not often done with a lot of knowledge. Hind sight is 20/20. If we want to play the science says that this will happen by the date in the future. The trouble it is all based off models, with information that we believe to be correct. Often these models are incorrect.

Did anyone here about China's plan to control the weather for the Olympics? Crazy, as long as it is not pouring they can stop the rain...

For all you environmentalist here is your chance to freak out! Playing with the weather oh god what will we this do to the environment!!!!!!!!

If we can change the weather why not change the earth's climate to stop global warming???

For the conspiracy people, since America is so evil... Perhaps in the 70s and 80s when we thought the world was going to go into another Ice Age they changed the climate of the world resulting in this global warming, but someone did not think it would get as bad as it is...

In closing vote for all the crazy people who think that we can truly impact the global climate! We are all pawns to the greater mother earth...

ya I remember seeing that on tv about the Olympics and the rain, I forget what it is exactly as I saw it atleast 2 years ago but they release something in the air which counter acts with the rain clouds...

if done on a long term basis I believe it can be very harmful to the environment.

But to think that humans have not contributed to the climate change (not really called global warming anymore because climates everywhere are changing some places are getting warmer while others are getting cooler.) I think it is rather naive because humans have wiped out numerous species of plants and animals and caused a lot of pollution to our waters (fresh and salt).

We might not be the main cause of the climate change as I believe that it is natural to an extent but I think with the forests we have destroyed, the wet lands wiped out with pollution etc. we have contributed to the effect and maybe even sped the process up...

also if there was an ice age I think before that when the super continuant was around there was no ice just water, and I think the same is going to happen again just minus the super continuant.

just my 2 cents on that...

You're wrong mister :grinno:. Let's see in ten years. To think that we can't change the characteristics of a very thin layer draping the earth is naive. Even if you don't believe it doesn't mean you should not be driving so much and trying to conserve.

the chinese govt probably thought those dolphins had wepons of environmental destruction just like American govt thought saddam had wepons of mass destruction,all u ppl attacking the chinese govt are too smart for this stupidity,u should just forgive them for not using excuses for killing the dolpins while constructing the dam.....
But i completely understand ur emotions....some other country's govt killing dolphins is far more grave issue than our own govt killing humans....

@topic...i posted this before and im gonna say it again,its a shame the dolphin is no more...one less FISH species on earth

They actually did find dinosaur dna but it was only parts of the dna that make up there bones.
