I was thinking that the transient nature of the lfs stock would explain why their fish don't have any visible effects from high nitrate, but the breeding stock for the arrow farm unless housed under different conditions would be a different story.

im not sure if the aro farm have their own "secret recipes".. i forgot to take a sample of their water.. i will take the sample next visit.
ammonia and nitrite im sure their filtration systems take care of it.. but this stupid nitrate is the only thing that does not make sense to me at all
Yeah I think they just don't care about low water quality. As robham said, their fish are ideally in and out. All they care about is selling the fish. The asian fish industry is notorious for bad conditions. The nitrates is just part of that

I think there is enough scientific and anecdotal evidence that prolonged exposure to high nitrate levels will eventually have a negative impact on any fishes health. What is the precipitation like at your locale. Would it be possible to collect rainwater and use it to help dilute the high nitrate tap? Some type of plant based filtration may be a benefit as well.
problem is, none of them know what the hell is nitrate.. so up until now so far im on my own.. all of them told me just use tap water, leav it 24 hours then do water change. thats it
Leaving the water gasses off chlorine and stabilises the PH. If the fish are bred in mud ponds then the mud contains bacteria that remove nitrate, anaerobic bacteria. Those are probably only rearing tanks
have you left your water for 24hrs and then tried testing it? you would probably find it stabilizes a bit. As for nitrate your only real options are to use ro water or work with what you have aiming for no higher then 50ppm in your tank, there will be a varying long term effect on your fish depending on what you intend to keep though.
yeah the ph problem should be solved with leaving the tap water 24hours prior wc...
for my nitrates i think the only way out is by having floating plants i guess?? but my oscars and flowerhorns most likely will destroy the plants and it will just causes another problem i suppose?.. any advices for keeping floating plants with oscars/flowerhorns?
