I was doing some cleaning of my SA tank last night and noticed that there were four leaches on some drift wood in the tank.

My tank is a 110g with two small oscars, one pleco, one very small clown knife, and two red devils about 5" long.

The two devils live outside in my man made pond for the summer months. The pond is very small in a town home backyard in the burbs.

The drift wood is from a pet store and has been in tanks for 3-4 years now. The wood has also been out of the tank for over a year and dried right out.

So now please fill me in how these little things got in the tank?
My guess is there was some leache eggs in the driftwood.

I am not worried about the leaches being in the tank. The fish will eventually eat them when the find them. I am just more interested in how they got there.

You need to get rid of them. They are eating something (blood) and getting it from somewhere. Unless you are regularly putting liver in your tank for them to eat, they are feeding off of your fish.

Copper Safe will take care of them.

I'd definitely treat the tank for them, might be in there as contaminants with live plants

oh thats creepy, yeah i would also advise to get rid of them they have to be leaving off of something.
